Lot Description

NIMITZ, Chester W. (1885-1966). Typed letter signed ("C.W. Nimitz"), to George A. Ingham. 9 January 1945. 1 page, 8vo, on letterhead with Navy Admiral Flag, light old creases. 

A letter of thanks written by Fleet Admiral Nimitz: "many thanks for your congratulations and good wishes, which I appreciate." Ingham likely wrote to congratulate Nimitz on his promotion to fleet admiral, the highest in the Navy, having taken the oath of office on 19 December 1944.
