Lot Description

[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Whole plate daguerreotype of a family of five. 

Whole plate daguerreotype. (Wipes and small scratches to plate, some spotting, light tarnish to edges, image previously resealed.) Housed in half leather case (loss to bottom edge of case, surface wear throughout). 

A studio portrait of a rather sulky looking family of five, including the father seated near center between his son and two daughters and the mother standing behind them. Note the wooden floor that is visible in front of the studio rug.
