Lot Description
[CHICAGO]. A group of documents signed by Chicago mayors, including Joseph MEDILL, John WENTWORTH, James H. WOODWORTH, Anton J. CERMAK, William Hale THOMPSON, and the Mayors DALEY. 

MEDILL, Joseph (1823-1899). Document signed ("Joseph Medill") as Mayor. [Chicago, IL], 9 December 1872. 11 x 17 in. land deed (separation at creases with some modern adhesive repair, few small holes to bottom portion, and areas of discoloration). Also signed by Augustus H. Burley as Comptroller. Medill was Chicago's 26th mayor, serving just after the Great Chicago Fire from 1871-1873. -- THOMOPSON, William Hale (1869-1944). Typed letter signed as mayor. Chicago, IL, 14 May 1927. 8 3/8 x 10 7/8 in. letter with additional letter and newspaper clipping attached (creasing, very light spotting). Thompson served as Chicago's 41st and 43rd mayor, from 1915-1923 and from 1927-1931. -- WENTWORTH, John (1815-1888). Document signed ("John Wentworth"). Chicago, IL, 10 July 1873. 8 1/2 x 14 in. land deed (some separation at creases, wear to edges and corners, soiling). Wentworth served as Chicago's 19th and 21st mayor, from 1857-1858, and from 1860-1861. -- WOODWORTH, James H. (1804-1869). Autograph letter signed ("Jas H. Woodworth, Mayor of Chicago"), to Albany Mayor John Taylor. Chicago, IL, 6 March 1849. 7 7/8 x 9 3/4 in. letter describing the hydraulic works of the city of Chicago (some separation and light discoloration at creases). Addressed and docketed on verso. Woodworth was Chicago's twelfth mayor, serving from 1848-1850. -- And 5 others, including 3 typed letters from Chicago's 44th mayor, Anton J. Cermak (2 of which may bear facsimile signatures). -- Together, 9 autographed items.
