[WOMEN]. A group of pamphlets, handbills, and other ephemera related to women's suffrage, temperance, and educational movements, comprising: 

The World's Congress Auxiliary of the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893...Department of Woman's Progress. Chicago: N.p., 1893. 8vo. Original wrappers (minor soil, short marginal tear). FIRST EDITION of a pamphlet reporting from the week-long convention held during the Chicago World's Fair. During the week, 81 meetings were held with speeches given by nearly 500 women from 27 countries and attended by over 150,000 visitors. Many notable women attended the Congress including Jane Addams, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Auguste Förster. RARE: OCLC locates only 2 copies, at the University of Illinois at Chicago Library and the Chicago History Museum.

Blatchford in Chicago. She opened the first free kindergarten in Chicago in 1879, inspired by the work of German education reformer Friedrich Forebel.

N.p.: N.p., 1911. 8vo. -- Annual Register. Jan. '78 to Jan. '79. Highland Hall. Highland Park, IL: C.E. Southard, 1879. 3 3/8 x 6 in. pamphlet. Highland Hall was "a preparatory and collegiate institution for young ladies." -- Augusta Female Seminary! [Staunton, VA]: N.p., n.d. 10 x 12 1/2 in. broadside (adhesive residue to verso, creasing, toned). Advertises various rules for students. Founded in 1842, the school was renamed Mary Baldwin Seminary in 1895, and to Mary Baldwin College in 1923. -- Together, 5 items related to women and education, condition generally very good.

Photograph showing a portrait of Frances Willard, Abraham Lincoln, and various pro-Temperance sentiments. N.p., [ca 1933]. Willard was an advocate of women's suffrage and the National President of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.  -- Together, 3 items related to women's suffrage and temperance, condition generally very good.
