[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 8 photographs of Union Naval officers, incl. portraits of David G. Farragut and David D. Porter. 

FARRAGUT, David (1801-1870). Seated three quarter portrait in dress uniform. N.p., n.d. 3 3/4 x 5 1/2 in. albumen photograph (minor toning) on cardstock mount. Facsimile signature to mount recto. 

[With:] PORTER, David Dixon (1813-1891). Seated bust portrait in civilian dress. New York: Boardus, n.d. -- PORTER, David Dixon. Seated three-quarter portrait in uniform. New Orleans, LA: E. Jacobs, n.d. -- FARRAGUT, David. Seated three-quarter portrait in uniform. New York: J. Gurney & Son, n.d. -- FARRAGUT, David. Standing three-quarter portrait in uniform. New York: C.D. Fredericks & Co., n.d. -- Union Naval Officers. Composite CDV. N.p., n.d. -- Together, 5 CDVs on cardstock mounts, condition generally very good, minor toning. 

[Also with:] Vignetted bust portrait identified to 3rd Assist. Edward Torrallas of the U.S.S. Bienville. New Orleans, LA: Washburn, 11 March 1865. Albumen CDV on cardstock mount. Pencil inscription identifying the subject, his rank, and date, to mount verso. 

In 1863, the U.S.S. Bienville was transferred to the Gulf of Mexico where she continued blockading. She supported the capture of the entrances to Mobile Bay on 5 August 1864. 

[Also with:] Bust portrait of a lieutenant from the U.S.S. Santee. N.p.: N.p., n.d. Albumen CDV from scrapbook, affixed to period cardstock mount without imprint. Modern pencil inscription to verso identifies as from a U.S.S. Santee scrapbook.

The U.S.S. Santee was a wood-hull, three-masted frigate, one of the last sailing frigates in service.
