Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Civil War-period patriotic covers, incl. northern and southern examples.
Modern blue scrapbook album, 10 x 11 1/2 in., housing 55 patriotic covers, 3 per page, each stored loose in a separate plastic album compartment. (Conditions vary, most generally good with expected age and wear, but some with soil, scattered foxing, scattered marks.) All but 3 covers unused.
[With:] 12 x 14 1/2 in. album, gilt "Scrap Book" and decorative scrolls on spine, with quarter leather binding (heavy wear, especially at corners, back board completely detached), containing 26 paper pages each with an assortment of covers. Covers are cut with just the front portion remaining and adhered to paper (covers all with adhesive stains at corners, some with toning and soil). Approx. 300 covers in album.
