9 letters, in German (without translations), written by German POWs Major Rudols Elterich, Oberleutnant Traugott [sp?] Wehlmann, and Oberarzt Dr. Gerrit Busmann all prisoners held at Camp Crossville POW Camp in Tennessee.

[With:] Reprinted publication titled "Crossville" by Herston Cooper, describing the prison camp and other matters related to American treatment of POWS in comparison to the experiences of American POWs held by Axis nations, also includes xeroxed newspaper clippings of articles related to POWs and Crossville. 91pp, 11 x 8 1/2 in. (light wear and toning). Major Herston Cooper was a stockade commander in charge of the Crossville Camp during WWII. -- Unused $10 camp voucher for "Prisoner of War Camp / Canteen - Crossville, Tenn."

Camp Crossville was constructed on the site of an abandoned 1930s Civilian Conservation Corp work camp, and was one of eleven POW camps that existed in the state of Tennessee during World War II. It was officially closed in 1945.
