Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. 4 cased images of soldiers with headgear featuring visible insignia.
Sixth plate tintype portrait of a seated New Hampshire first sergeant wearing a red sash in such  a way that may signify he is the regimental first sergeant. He holds his hat in his hand, clearly showing hunting horn insignia, "NHV," and "B," designating his company. (Image a bit dark, some deterioration to lower right corner, cover glass with adhesive label residue; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case. -- Sixth plate tintype portrait of a standing federal infantry private standing before a painted backdrop. He wears a forage cap with hunting horn insignia and holds a bayonetted long arm to one side. There is a pistol, likely a prop, in his belt. (Image plate with some creases, few surface imperfections, cover glass clouded; unsealed.) Housed in a patriotic pressed paper case with inscribed paper slip reading "Harlem Brown / Co K 169th NY Vols March 27 1862." -- And 2 others, including a sixth plate tintype and ninth plate ambrotype, both housed in half cases. -- Together, 4 images of Union soldiers with headgear bearing insignia.
