US Model 1840 Light Artillery Saber

American Civil War

31" blade. 36.5" overall with hilt. Curved single edge blade with 24" off-center fullers to both sides. Ricassos are unmarked. Brass hilt has a single knuckle bow and swept quillon. Grip is leather with 17-grooved twisted wire wrapping. Leather throat washer is still present. Scabbard has double hangers.

Condition Report

Good. Blade shows sprinkled pit marks to both sides. Hilt shows scratching and some pitting. Grip has losses to leather and wiring is still tight. Scabbard shows pitting scattered overall.
