Lot Description
** Custom Winchester Model 1885 Low-Wall Winder Musket

.22 LR. 28" barrel length. SN: 125680. Blued metal finish. Two piece walnut stock has a plain straight grip and forearm with single barrel band and hand grooves to both sides. Falling block action rifle with a replaced blade front sight, all other sights have been removed and barrel has been drilled and tapped. Item features double sling swivels and a brass socket that rotates on a brass gear cog mechanism fixed to bottom of forearm, possibly for an adjustable palm rest or monopod attachment. Buttstock appears to have been extended and fitted with a brass faceted crescent buttplate. Stock also has three flathead nails fixed to right side of butt and one to bottom of forearm.

Condition Report

Fair. Bore is frosty. Finish to barrel has thinned losses and pitting, giving a mottled blue-brown appearance. Frame finish is mostly a dark patina with pitting overall. Stock has scattered losses, mars, and scratching overall. Upper tang appears to have a replaced screw, and right side of frame is missing four screws from original rear sight.
