(Mfg. ca.1903) Reblued metal finish with polished locking lugs, jeweled bolt and hammer flanks, and mounting straight wrist walnut stock with crescent buttplate. Lever-action repeating takedown rifle mounting MARBLES rear semi-buckhorn and gold finished front blade sights. Item shows the standard make and model markings with the tang marked MODEL 1892./-WINCHESTER-/PAT. OCT 14.1884. The rifle features aftermarket engraved embellishments including floral scroll over a beaded ground surrounding the rear sight and flowing to the breech. Further matching scroll adorns all sides of the frame with the flanks enclosing vignettes with silver animals including a {Bear stalking a forest} on the left receiver and {Running Elk among evergreens} to the right. Both vignettes are surrounded with inlaid silver wire.
Very Good as Refinished and Embellished. Bore is Frosty with some patches of patina and oxidation and some pitting throughout with weak rifling. The reblued finish shows some weakening in patches along the barrel with pitting forming on the magazine tube. Some further light pitting to the forend cap and all edges of the frame. The pitting has been filled in with blue as part of the refinish. Patch of patina forming at the front edge of the lower receiver, and further light patina has begun to form on the forend cap. The stock shows scattered dings and mars that have been sanded down and varnished over. There is an indentation on the rear right forend that has been sanded down. All silver pieces are tarnished.
