.32-40 WCF. 30" octagonal to round barrel. SN: 4543. Blued metal finish to barrel and case hardened frame. Walnut stock has a plain semi pistol grip, forearm with Schnabel forend, and a cheek rest to butt. Single shot falling block rifle with dovetail scope mounts, dovetail blank in place of rear sight, and adjustable globe ghost ring front sight. Item features a lightweight trigger and Bavarian-style brass schuetzen buttplate. Upper tang appears to have been drilled and tapped for sights. Front of frame is marked 45 under forearm, along with cartridge marks .32-40 marked to flat of barrel also under forearm. Top of barrel is marked J. STEVENS A & TOOL CO. which means it was most likely made sometime between 1896 and 1916.
