Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 2 tintypes of Union soldiers, incl. full plate and sixth plate portraits.
Whole plate tintype of a young Federal soldier in uniform with kepi and greatcoat. 6 3/8 x 8 3/8 in. whole plate hand-tinted and colorized tintype (a few scratches at perimeter, likely from a former mat). Uncased.
[With:] Sixth plate tintype half-length studio portrait of a mustachioed Union soldier in full uniform with kepi, holding a pistol across his chest and his military belt plate in full view. Sixth plate tintype. (A few spots, some alligatoring, darkened.) Housed in a full pressed paper case with a lyre motif (a few cracks to rear board, scuffs).
