Lot Description
Pre-Civil War, or war-era unmarked rosewood fife.
16 in. rosewood fife (general wear commensurate with age and use). Fitted with 1 1/8 in. cylindrical brass ferrules with scoring, attached by dimpling with a punch in 2 locations on each ferrule. Finger holes of consistent sizes, with space between third and fourth hole being greater than spacing between other holes. This is characteristic of fifes made from 1840 up until the late 1850s. Fife appears broader at blow hole.
