Lot Description

Civil War Smith Patent captain of cavalry shoulder straps. 

4 x 2 in. triple border captain of cavalry straps (wear and some loss to backing, lacking manufacturer's label). Straps feature stamped brass high relief border rows and rank devices, bright yellow worsted wool centers, and black cloth backing. 

Yellow center material similar to decorative taping found on Union cavalry uniform jackets.
