Lot Description
British Pattern 1796 Light Cavalry Officer's Saber
33" blade. 40" overall with hilt and scabbard. Curved single edge blade with straight back point and wide fullers to both sides. Blade has a Damascened finish and several gold plated stars, crescent moons, and crossed scepters to both sides. Brass hilt has a B-shaped knuckled bow, swept up quillon, and lion head pommel. Grip is leather with a brass backstrap and 16-groove double twisted wiring. Scabbard is brass with double hangers and a steel drag.

Condition Report
Good. Blade has some clusters of scattered pitting toward tip, and is sprinkled overall to both sides. Blade edge has several small bites, mostly toward tip. Gold plated inlay Hilt shows light scratches and some sprinkled pit marks. Grip has losses to leather and some of the wiring has come undone. Scabbard has scattered denting, scratching, and losses overall.
