Serial number to the firing pin port reads 727161, just one digit off of the frame. Frame shows colt's VP proof mark below a P mark on the left triggerguard with the right frame marked UNITED STATES PROPERTY and M1911A1 U.S. ARMY. The frame features the boxed RS cartouche of inspector Colonel Robert Sears to the left frame behind the triggerguard. Inspector marks include G and U to underside of the slide, and a P mark to the top of the slide forward of the rear sight. The barrel is marked S&W on the lug with the breech marked 45 AUTO/7791193, and features a chromed bore, both features known to appear on post war Smith & Wesson manufactured barrels.
