Lot Description
Springfield Trapdoor Carbine Composite
.46" Caliber Smoothed Bore. 21.875" barrel length. SN: NSN. Blued metal refinish set in a straight wrist walnut stock with half length handguard and no void in the stock for cleaning kit. Item mounts adjustable rear ladder sight graduated up to 1100 yards. The lockplate is marked US/SPRINGFIELD beside the {Seal of the US Army}. The top of the breechblock is marked MODEL/1884. The rifle mounts a low arch breechblock, smooth trigger, two click action, and two piece triggerguard with attached sling loop. Left wrist displays the ESA/1878 inspector cartouche of Erskine S. Allen. Buttplate is US marked, and the barrel is marked V/P/{Eagle Head}. The barrel band is U marked, and the rifle mounts a modern production nylon sling attached to the barrel band and triggerguard.

Condition Report
Good. Bore is Frosty with patches of patina and some light pitting. The finish is wearing down on the lockplate and breechblock, with brown patina forming. All metal components show some light nicks and mars overall. The wood stock has some handling wear, mars, and dings overall.
