Civil War folk art marionette doll made by a soldier while in camp, 1863.

9 in. wooden marionette doll with hinged legs, original cord, and maneuvering stick (wear commensurate with age including loss to left foot, and soiling throughout). Accompanied by repaired browned ink tag reading, “This Immage[?] was made by Henry C. Smalley while in camp during Civil War in 1863.”
