Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Sixth plate tintype of a pair of cavalrymen wearing gauntlets and caps with insignia.
Seated portrait of two cavalrymen, both wearing gauntlets, 1858 Pattern shell jackets, and what appear to be mounted services pants. The man on the viewer's left wears brass scales on his shoulders. Both subjects have insignia affixed to their forage caps, though it is largely indiscernible. (Significant surface wear and spots of darkening to image; unsealed.) Housed under mat, glass, and preserver, no case.
