Verso pencil inscription reads "Your Grandfather, Age 11." -- Together, 2 large format albumen portraits tentatively identified as the same person, Pvt. Henry G. Hampton, by verso inscription. An HDS search locates 15 Henry Hamptons in the Union Army, but returned no records for a Henry Hampton serving in the 44th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment.
