Soldier's Record, Weddell Light Guard. 103d Ohio Vol. Inf. Regiment, Company A. Chicago, IL: Hyatte & Calhoun. 21 x 16 1/2 in. (sight) lithograph, matted and framed with description, 31 1/2 x 21 1/2 in. (toning, some soiling, loss to top left corner, creasing, 3 in. tear near bottom edge, surface abrasions, unexamined outside frame). A 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 in. photograph of an unidentified gentleman, possibly a veteran of the 103rd Ohio Volunteers, is displayed at top left. The document is not filled out. The 103rd Volunteers were organized in Cleveland, Ohio, in August 1862, serving in Kentucky for the remainder of the year. During that time, the regiment was involved in the defense of Cincinnati against CSA General Kirby Smith. It also helped build trenches with Black volunteers at Fort Mitchell Hill. The 103rd then went to Tennessee to serve in the Army of the Cumberland in 1863. In May, 1864, the regiment joined the movement against Atlanta, GA, under Sherman's command, then returned to Tennessee until February, 1865. It mustered out at Cleveland, OH, 22 June 1865.

(sight) photograph of a group of GAR veterans and women, with modern label on mount below identifying the group as members of a "Kentucky GAR Reunion, 8th Regiment, Circa 1870s." Note an African American woman standing at left, behind the first row of Civil War veterans. Matted and framed, 12 3/4 x 14 1/2 in. (toning to print, unexamined outside frame).

[Also with:] Marietta & Cincinnati Rail Road Company stock certificate, approx. 8 1/2 x 10 in., matted and framed with description, 22 x 16 in. (folds, toning, some light soiling). The certificate includes a 25 cent US internal revenue stamp with 15 June 1863 ink stamp. The stock certificate is issued to Noah Wilson, a resident of New Paris, Ohio. The Marietta & Cincinnati Rail Road Company was one of the five important east-west railroads of southern Ohio. -- Baptismal certificate identified to Bernard Ratterman, Cincinnati, OH, 22 April 1854. 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 in. (sight) lithographed certificate featuring lovely religious motif at center, matted and framed together with modern reproduction of the certificate and description (toning, some soling, loss to lower right corner). Likely a certificate belonging to the family of Bernard Ratterman, whose residence is now identified as a historic house in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati, OH.
