Martially Marked Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver
American Civil War
.44" Caliber. 8" barrel length. SN: 27507. (Mfg. Ca 1862) Blued and casehardened metal finish with brass triggerguard and mounting one piece walnut grips. Single action percussion revolver mounting German silver front blade and hammer notch rear sights. The single line barrel address reads -ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-, with the left frame displaying the COLTS/PATENT marking followed by 44 CAL on the left triggerguard. The grips have no visible cartouches, but the metal components display scattered martial inspection markings including O and L initials to the triggerguard, L to the arbor pin, B and I to the cylinder, L and C to the barrel, and an O stamp on the rear gripstrap. The loading lever stud is a period replacement that has been silver soldered in place. The cylinder retains Ormsby's {Naval Engagement} roll engraving. Serial numbers match where visible including the wedge pin.

Condition Report
Good to very good. Bore is Frosty with patina throughout, strong rifling, and some light pitting at the forcing cone. Overall metal finish is a deep brown patina with traces of the casehardening on the frame and bluing on the upper edges of the backstrap, with the brass showing an rich golden color. Cylinder shows some light pitting over the forward edges with corresponding light pitting overt he forcing cone. The grips show handling wear, mars, some chips and dents on the butt, and wastage of the wood at the outer edges. Replacement lever stud shows some cracks through the soldering. The action times and indexes correctly.
