Lot Description
U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber by Ames
American Civil War
34.5" curved single edged blade with a 27" median fuller. Blade 1" wide at ricasso. Overall length 40.75" with a 6" hilt, two branch brass guard and knuckle bow. Leather covered grooved wood grip with 12 wraps of twisted wire. Blade marked with the three-line arched Ames address on the reverse ricasso and U.S./MM/1864 on the obverse. Pommel cap with ADK inspection. Steel scabbard buffed and polished with two suspension rings and inspected J.C.W. on the drag.

Condition Report
Fine. Blade with much of the polish and mostly bright with scattered surface oxidation and discolored freckling. Hilt with a medium mustard patina. Grip with some wear to the leather covering and some minor loss, wire intact. Throat washer in place. Scabbard buffed and polished bright.
