U.S. Model 1840 NCO Sword by Ames
American Civil War
32.25" straight single edged spear point blade with 30.5" stopped median fuller. Blade .87" wide at ricasso. 39" in overall length. 6.25" hilt with cast brass guard, oval guard and counterguard, faux wire wrapped grip, knuckle bow and ball shaped pommel cap. Obverse ricasso with Ames scroll address, reverse marked US/HK/1865. Brass mounted leather scabbard.

Condition Report
Fine. Blade with most of the bright polish and cross polish at the ricasso. Markings clear. Hilt with a rich bronze patina. Scabbard fine with some lightly scuffed wear and minor crazing.
