Lot Description
Colt Model 1855 .44 Caliber Revolving Carbine
.44 caliber. 18" octagonal to round barrel. SN: 823. Blued metal finish. Walnut stock has a plain straight grip. Percussion revolving rifle with three leaf folding leaf rear sight, with 100, 200 and 300 yard graduations and a replaced blade front sight. Item features a 6-shot fully fluted cylinder, sling swivel stud on bottom of frame (missing swivel) and sling swivel in toe of stock at rear of trigger plate. Matching serial numbers are present on the bottom of the barrel (concealed by the loading lever) and on the upper and lower receiver tangs. The arbor pin is not currently removable so the cylinder could not be removed for inspection of the rear face for a serial number. Loading lever catch is missing.

Condition Report
Fair. Bore is dark and moderately pitted with visible rifling. No finish present. Metal with a moderately oxidized mottled brownish gray patina and scattered pitting. Wood shows numerous scratches and mars with some chipped loss around the upper tang. The arbor pin retention screw and lower left frame screw are missing. The frame sling swivel is not present. Loading lever catch is missing. Action is not functional, hammer does not engage in any notches and the action sometimes locks up and does not rotate when the hammer is pulled back. Need substantial mechanical work to approach any level of functionality.
