Breechloading rifle with M1884 Buffington rear sight and blade front sight. Item features a low arched breech, two piece triggerguard, serrated trigger, two click tumbler, and stacking sling swivels. Markings include US/MODEL/1873 to breech cover, US/SPRINGFIELD and eagle to center of lock, and US to heel of buttplate. Stock is marked with an inspector cartouche to left side, but markings are obscured. Comb of buttstock appears to be marked A2/4C11. Includes wide channeled and slotted cleaning rod, as well as leather military style sling.
Good. Bore is frosty and has some scattered residue and pitting. Finish has mottled brown appearance overall due to finish loss, pitting, and patina. Wood stock possibly sanded at some point with losses, scratching, and mars scattered overall. Action is functional.
