U.S. Model 1840 Musician Sword by Ames

American Civil War

28" single edged spear point blade with 26.75" stopped median ricasso. Blade .8" wide at ricasso. Overall length 34.25". 6.25" cast brass hilt with guard and knuckle bow and upright quillon. Obverse ricasso marked U.S./J.F./1864 and reverse with Ames "scroll" address. Includes a brass mounted leather scabbard.

Condition Report

Fine. Blade with some bright polish, markings clear. Metal with some scattered oxidation and freckled discoloration. Hilt with a rich mustard patina. Scabbard very good with some minor fading to the leather finish and a small hole in the reverse above the drag.
